COLLECTION HISTORY Collection commenced: 01 November 2013 Breaks in series: None Other details: COLLECTION METHODOLOGY Statistics are derived from ACT Policing’s central Police Realtime Online Management Information System (PROMIS) – the Australian Federal Police’s central recording system for all crime, incidents and offences that are reported to police. SCOPE AND COVERAGE Offences reported to and recorded by ACT Policing. Coverage excludes rural locations (monthly data includes offences for all locations). DEFINITION OF SEXUAL VIOLENCE Sexual assault - Physical contact, or intent of contact, of a sexual nature directed toward another person where that person does not give consent, gives consent as a result of intimidation or deception, or consent is proscribed (i.e. the person is legally deemed incapable of giving consent because of age, temporary/permanent (mental) incapacity or there is a familial relationship).
